Objectives The purpose of creating a web site was to allow the members of the scheme & the public to gain an insight into the operation of a defrauded pension scheme and provide a platform for the beneficiaries to make their views and comments known. Rationale Having watched an old soldier die before ever getting his rights made us think about what had happened to his pension. He was justly proud of the Military Medal he had won for bravery but had his dignity robbed when forced to take government handouts. He died shortly after he learnt that £2,050,000 had been recovered for his pension fund and being totally honest he immediately wanted to tell the local authority etc. that he wouldn't need the same amount of financial support. Having been previously shown letters from trustees, always asking for his patience whilst a new problem was resolved, we advised him to wait until he actually saw a pension statement. Of course that didn't happen and yet more letters came asking for even more patience. That was Christmas 2006 and the Clarion Group Retirement and Dependants Benefit Scheme seems to have made little progress. In 2007 the scheme was trying to join the Pension Protection Fund. In 2009 the scheme is still trying to join the PPF. When and if it does, it seems unlikely the pensioners will get a single penny. The HMRC is looking for £1.7M and the trustees etc. are taking £113,715 per annum.
